How we rank

This page is the public description of the default order on the comparison. It is written in plain language so a clinic and a reader can see why one listing is above another.

Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 asks providers of online intermediation services, and online search engines, to explain the main parameters that determine ranking and the relative importance of those parameters. In Ireland the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is the competent authority, under S.I. No. 256/2020. Sources: Regulation (EU) 2019/1150, S.I. No. 256/2020, and the CCPC's P2B page. Whether this site is legally inside that regulation is a question for the publisher's adviser. The order below is how the list works in any case.

Default order: best overall value

The default sort is a value score from 0 to 100. It uses only published information. It is not a rating of dentistry, and there is no manual adjustment and no pin. If two scores match, the clinic name decides, A to Z.

Each part is rounded to one decimal place. The total is the sum of those rounded parts. A fact that is not published scores 0. The page says "not published". It does not say "no". A published "no", "extra" or "closed" also scores 0, and the table shows a cross.

  1. Price, 30 points. Uses the comparable total for one implant and one crown. The lowest total in this whole set of listings scores 30. The highest scores 0. Everyone else is on a straight line between them: 30 times (highest minus this price) divided by (highest minus lowest). If there is no comparable total, the score is 0.
  2. Written guarantee, 20 points. A stated number of years for the implant scores 20 times the years divided by 20, and years above 20 still score 20. A published lifetime guarantee on the implant scores 20. If the length is not published, the score is 0.
  3. Google reviews, 20 points. Only a rating and review count read from that clinic's Google Business profile are used. The score is 20 times (rating divided by 5) times (review count divided by review count plus 50). The plus 50 stops a tiny number of reviews from scoring like a large number. If the profile could not be verified, the score is 0 and the table says unknown. Where a clinic has more than one Google profile, the score uses the profile for the first address on our listing. Other profiles are not averaged.
  4. Technology, 10 points. 2.5 points for each of these, if the clinic's own site says they offer it: a CBCT or 3D scan, guided surgery, an in-house lab or a same-day crown, and digital scanning.
  5. Inclusions, 10 points. 2.5 points for each of consultation, scan, abutment and crown when it is included in the implant and crown price, or is free.
  6. Locations and weekend opening, 5 points. Up to 3 points for the number of Ireland locations on the price we use: the count, capped at 4, divided by 4, times 3. Plus 2 points if the clinic publishes that it is open on Saturday or Sunday.
  7. Free consultation and a payment plan, 5 points. 2.5 if a free consultation is published. 2.5 if a payment plan or finance offer is published.

Full arch

Choose Full arch on the results, on a county page, on compare, or on a clinic page. The weights stay the same. The price part uses the published starting price per jaw, not the single-tooth total. The guarantee part uses only a length written on the full arch package. The inclusion part gives 2.5 points each for temporary teeth, final teeth, sedation, and a consultation that is included or free. If a clinic does not publish a per-jaw price, that price part is 0 and the cell says not published. A single-tooth guarantee is not reused. The same rule is written on the methodology page.

An implant brand is shown in the table when the clinic names one. It is not part of the 100 points.

No clinic pays to be listed or to move up. This site does not sell treatment, so it has no offer of its own to place first. Badges such as "Lowest price in Dublin" are calculated from prices and do not change the value score.

If you change the sort

You can choose Lowest price, Highest price, Most published information, or A to Z. The sort control shows the name of the order that is on. Lowest price puts the lowest comparable implant and crown total first, and listings without that total last. "Most published information" counts how many of the six checks are met. That count is not a quality score. Ties fall back to A to Z.

For full arches, "Lowest price" uses the published full arch starting price where the page states a per-arch price, or describes one arch clearly. A range that does not say whether it is per arch is shown and sorts after the clear prices.

Filters

County, maximum price, free consultation, payment plans and a written warranty remove listings before the sort runs. They do not reorder the listings that remain. A filter only matches a "yes" when the clinic's own page says so. "Not stated" does not pass the filter.

Information for clinics

A clinic with a public price page can ask to be added, corrected or removed by emailing corrections@implantscompared.com. There is no fee. The same six checks and the same sort apply to every clinic. If a public price page cannot be found, the clinic is not given a comparable total. We aim to review a correction within 10 working days. The clinic's own page remains the source. This site does not negotiate a rank.
